Manuscript fragment, containing a statement by Susan Cuthbertson requesting membership in the "friendly famel [sic] society in Navoo [sic]." The names Rebaca Reed and Judy[?] Reed appear beneath the statement. The remaining space on both sides of the sheet of paper has been filled with writing in various inks and pencil, some of it religious in nature. The jottings include a list of women's names, presumably members of the Female Relief Society, including Louisa Beman, Eliza R. Snow, Emily Partridge,and Elizabeth Partridge.
- Description
- The Female Relief Society of Nauvoo was organized in March, 1842 by Joseph Smith. The society was abolished by Brigham Young in 1844.
