One decorated brass clasp attached to the rear board, with a decorated brass catch fixed with three nails to the front board. The binding is reinforced with a strip of parchment cut from a ca. 1100 missal (?), decorated with versals and plain initials in red and a 5-line Romanesque initial in red with blue tendrils on a liquid gold background.
