Criticizing President Jefferson’s replacement of Elizer Goodrich with Samuel Bishop as revenue collector for New Haven. A reprint of the remonstrance by a group of New Haven merchants, President Jefferson’s reply to it and Abraham Bishop’s attack upon it, all of which appeared originally in various newspapers in 1801--cf.
