Richmond Barthé (1901-1989), African American sculptor associated with the Harlem Renaissance.

A full-length standing nude figure of a man with his right arm raised over his head. It is signed on the back of the base: "Barthe." The model for the statue, Mark Lutz (1901-1969), was a journalist, editor, and close associate of the American photographer Carl Van Vechten.
