Abstract:
Photographs created by Owen Luck of individuals and events that document life on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota, 2000-2003. Images consist primarily of informal portraits of individuals, in addition to formal and informal gatherings and views of the landscape.
1. James Rock at Wounded Knee, holds a photograph of the 1973 liberation of Wounded Knee. The church now gone as well as the bunker emplacements he built with his back hoe remains an ominous reminder of the seventy one days under siege, surrounded by hundreds of FBI agents and US Marshals with armored personnel carriers.
